Studies have shown that BA supplementation can elevate muscle carnosine by up to 80%. Your body requires BA to produce Carnosine which is stored in your skeletal muscles. Carnosine levels are limited by the amount of available beta-alanine. Note that studies have shown that vegetarians have 50% less carnosine in their muscles than meat eaters.
Carnosine reduces lactic acid accumulation in your working muscles which helps to improve muscle endurance and muscle strength, delaying muscle fatigue. Studies have shown some positive results that boosting carnosine levels in elderly via BA can aid the function of muscles in older adults.
